Hey, I’m Gavynne, but you can call me Gav. Some of you may already be familiar with me at Tattoos by Boney Joe for my swift piercing skills! I am over the moon to tell you that I have delved deep into the exhilarating world of tattooing as of December 2019. Don’t worry, I still pierce when I can! Joe and I make an exceptional team when our youngest clients come in for their first ever, ear piercing experience!
I was born on July 26th, 1994 in North Carolina to Wally and Seriena Hehman and have been living in Ellwood City since I was 6 years old. After high school, I briefly worked as an apprentice until I started taking courses at BC3 majoring in Fine Arts. My beautiful daughter was born during my third year of college in July of 2014. She has been my light and main motivation in reaching my goals despite all of the challenges that come with being a single mother. In 2018, I learned of the open position as secretary/ body piercer through Joe’s wife who was my realtor at the time. Plot twist: I got the job and the house and discovered my hidden passion for body piercing soon after. Not only have I succeeded in becoming an expert piercer under the wings of Joe “Boney Joe” Clark, but I am well on my way to making my childhood dream of becoming a full-time tattoo artist a reality. My hope is to become one of the most successful female artists in the industry one day and also own my own shop.
As an apprentice tattoo artist, I can promise you I put every ounce of my soul into each piece I do. Although open to any style, my preferences are Neo-Traditional, Blackwork, Illustrative, Whimsical, and horror-themed tattoos. I have a fascination with Paul Booth, who specialized in black and grey horror/gothic surrealism and I aspire to build my skills to the level he has lived up to. I love connecting with my clients on a personal level and believe that getting a tattoo should be a fun experience as well as a healing one.
